Fred Neace, 80, of Austin, Indiana, passed away on March 13, 2026, at Norton Brownsboro Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. Born on October 20, 1945, in Engle, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Brack and Roma Neace. Fred served with distinction in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, a chapter of his life that reflected his bravery and commitment to his country.

He is survived by his loving wife, Colleene, and his stepsons, Jimmy Baker and his wife Lisa. Fred was a proud grandfather to Amanda Clem, Benjamin Baker, Collin Baker, and Miranda Baker, and a cherished great-grandfather to Chandler Baker, Isaiah Baker, Glen Hess, Kylee Baker, Alyssa Baker, Ariya Clark, Elliot Cochran, and Amelia Baker. He was a source of wisdom and steadfast love for his family, offering guidance that will be deeply missed.

Fred was preceded in death by his first wife, Martha Neace, who passed away just over four years earlier, as well as his parents, his stepson David Baker, and his siblings Asberry Neace, Asdruble Neace, Brack Neace Jr., Lucy Begley, Rosa Helton, Lola Bush, Mary Angel, and Myrtle Riley. He is also survived by his brothers Green Neace, Deputy, and Wayne Neace, and his sisters Oredus Everhart and Betty Draper.

Fred’s memory will remain a lasting comfort to all who knew and loved him. He will be laid to rest at Scottsburg Cemetery in Scottsburg, Indiana, with military honors provided by the American Legion Post #234 Honor Guard.
