Franklin Delano Griffith Sr.

April 13, 1933 March 11, 2026

Lynchburg, OH

Franklin Delano Griffith, Sr., “Frank,” of Lynchburg, Ohio, passed away on March 11, 2026, at Hospice of Hope in Seaman, Ohio, at the age of 92. Born on April 13, 1933, in Harwood, Ohio, he was the son of the late George and Frances (Dean) Griffith. A proud Air Force veteran, Frank served during the Korean War beginning January 7, 1951, and was stationed at bases in San Antonio, Texas, San Francisco, California, Anchorage, Alaska, and Wichita Falls, Texas. He transferred to the Air Force Reserves in December 1953 and continued serving until 1958.

While stationed in Wichita Falls, Frank met and married the love of his life, Martha Nell Goodwin, on December 19, 1953, in her hometown of Seymour, Texas. They shared 53 and a half years of marriage until her passing on June 24, 2008. Baptized into Christ on June 15, 1944, at the Pricetown Church of Christ, Frank remained a lifelong member of the congregation, where he served faithfully as a deacon and trustee.

Though he worked various jobs throughout his life, Frank never strayed far from his farming roots. He grew up on a family farm in Harwood, and even in the later years of his journey with dementia, his thoughts remained anchored there, filled with warm memories of his parents, brothers, and sisters. He worked as a farmer and carpenter before retiring in 1995 from Cincinnati Milacron.

Frank is survived by his children, Cathy Griffith, Frank Griffith, Jr., Melissa (Quinn) Fletcher, Caitlyn (Robert Fulton) Burke, Jayona (Ryan) McPherson, and Uriah (Sarah Constant) Griffith; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his sister and brother-in-law, Bonnie and Melvin Nicholas; his sister-in-law, Ann Griffith; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha; his infant son, Jeffrey Dennis; his parents; three sisters; four brothers; and many other beloved family members.
