Frankie Alton "Pete" Speagle

Frankie "Pete" Alton Speagle, age 65, of Sanford, North Carolina, passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Central Carolina Hospital. He was born in Lee County on April 3, 1960, to the late Frank Marshall Speagle and Betty Rogers Speagle. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Lillian Beegle; his sister, Deborah Leviner; his niece, Rosa Speagle; and his nephew, Barry "Frank" Speagle.

Pete dedicated much of his life to serving his community. He retired as an equipment operator with the City of Sanford, where he was known as a dependable and hardworking member of the team. He also gave more than 30 years of volunteer service as a firefighter with the Northview Fire Department and the Deep River Fire Department, earning the respect and appreciation of his fellow firefighters and the community he proudly served. A man who loved the outdoors, Pete enjoyed fishing and hunting whenever he had the chance. He was happiest when he was busy—working, helping others, or tackling a project.

He is survived by his wife, Becky, of Sanford; his son, Edward Beegle, of Sanford; his brothers, James Speagle and wife Betty of Johnsonville, Dock Speagle of Broadway, and Perry Speagle of Broadway; his sister, Peggy Woody and husband Henry of Sanford; and many special nieces and nephews.
