Frank William Wayne Prater

Frank William Wayne Prater, age 58, of Shelbyville, passed away suddenly on Monday, March 9, 2026. Born on December 8, 1967, in Indianapolis, Indiana, he was the son of the late Frank William Wayne Prater and Mary Frances Bain. He was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Henry B. Bain, his brother, Steve Henry Bain, and his sister, Lisa Kay Prater.

For 23 years, Frank worked at Bedford Tack as a Leather Tech. To his family, he was known as a fiddler and a gifted handyman who was always tinkering with something. He possessed a wonderful sense of humor and could be counted on to make those around him laugh. Above all, his wife Wanda was the pride and joy of his life.

Frank is survived by his wife of 27 years, together for 37 years, Wanda (Dunn) Prater; his children, Timothy (Bethany) Farliss, Rhonda (Mark) Wilhoite, David (Marlena) Stacey, and Maranda (Jason) Ray; his sister, Mary Ruth Woods; fifteen grandchildren, Lathan Farliss, Katie Farliss, Kayla Farliss, Aiden Speegle, Evan Wilhoite, Jason Ray, Zachary Ray, Ashlin Ray, Malachi Ray, Isaac Ray, Makyla Stacey, Stephanie Stacey, Kristen Stacey, and David “BooBoo” Stacey; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
