Frank R. Gibbs

Frank R. Gibbs, 91, of Jetmore, passed away at the Hodgeman County Health Center in Jetmore. He was born on April 28, 1934, on his family farm in southeast Hodgeman County, the son of Jasper and Emma C. Anderson Gibbs.

A lifelong area resident and member of the Jetmore Methodist Church, Frank attended country schools and graduated from Jetmore High School in 1952. He served in the Army Air Corps as a reconnaissance helicopter maintenance mechanic. Frank was a skilled carpenter and mason who helped build many homes in the Jetmore area. He farmed for 35 years, taking special pride in tending to his cattle, and later retired as an equipment operator for the Ford County Road and Bridge Department in Dodge City.

On December 12, 1960, he married Opal J. Corey in Dodge City. She preceded him in death on January 27, 2018.

Frank is survived by two great-grandsons, Donovan (Janet) Hatfield and Chandler (Emily) Hatfield; four great-great-grandchildren, Audrey, Austin, Liam, and Aiden; along with nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; two sons, Rodney R. Gibbs and Larry Law; three brothers, Cecil, Sidney, and Jack Gibbs; his sister, Jessie Mae Ling; and his granddaughter, Kristi Hatfield.
