Frank Mozina Obituary March 8, 2026 - Arbaugh Pearce Greenisen Funeral Home
Salem, OH
Frank Mozina, a man whose life was defined by a full heart and a spirited soul, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 8, 2026, in Salem. Born in Slovenia on August 6, 1929, Frank came to America as an infant, the son of the late Frank and Agnes (Pintar) Mozina. He was the last of his immediate family, preceded in death by his siblings, Jennie Jackson, Mary Birchak, and Edward Mozina, but his legacy lives on in the warm smiles of his nine nieces and nephews and his many great-nieces and nephews.Frank was a man of quiet brilliance and a graduate of both Salem High School and Youngstown State University, where he earned his degree in engineering. He brought his sharp mind and dedicated work ethic to Mullins Mfg. and General American Transportation Co., along with several other local establishments throughout his career.Beyond his professional life, Frank was a man who truly savored the simple joys that bring a family together. He was perhaps happiest on the water, captaining his boat at the Salem Reservoir and inviting his family along to share in the "catch of the day." At home, he was a master of tradition—whether he was smoking meats, crafting his own wine, or cooking up a healthy meal for those he loved. He had a passion for the rhythm of polka music, a good book, and the excitement of "betting on the ponies" at the Mountaineer race track. A sharp poker player in Youngstown and a lifelong fan of Cleveland Browns football, Frank's energy was infectious.A man of strong convictions and a faithful Republican, Frank was famously easy to "rile up" in a good-natured political debate, yet his fire was always balanced by his deep devotion to his community. He was a proud member of the Salem Slovak Club, the Slovene National Benefit Society (SNPJ), and the American Fraternal Union (AFU), now Catholic Financial. Above all, Frank was a man of abiding faith and a dedicated member of St. Paul's Catholic Church.A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Salem, with Fr. Joe Ruggieri as Celebrant. Frank will be laid to rest in Grandview Cemetery. His life was a testament to the values of hard work, kindness, and the enduring warmth of a life well-lived.
