Frank Millington
March 28, 1957— March 2, 2026
Atlanta, GA
Frank Charles Millington, son of Leslie Millington and Lavinia Millington, was born March 28, 1957 in Brooklyn, New York. At a young age, he was always known to be a free thinker and one who liked to learn things on his own. He was incredibly smart, many would say the smartest in the family and as a child, enjoyed playing chess and won many tournaments in his age division. While he often would be the one in the family to get his siblings in trouble, it was well-known across the streets of New York that he was fiercely protective over his family and that no one should dare bother them. He matriculated through the New York City Public School System and would later go on to earn an Associates Degree while incarcerated.
After over 20 years battling substance addiction, he moved to Atlanta to start his journey of sobriety at the encouragement of his sister, Peaches. Anything that Frank set his mind to, he always accomplished. As a natural influencer and leader, he used his story for good and is responsible for the mentorship of dozens of individuals who followed his lead as his “sponsees” to start a life of sobriety. Frank was never ashamed of his journey and was always willing to share and lend a helping hand when someone was in need. He would later go on to earn his certification as a Peer Support Specialist to begin his career, something he was incredibly proud of. He was fond of the community he had at Trinity House and in Narcotics Anonymous.
Frank will be remembered as a man who was whip smart, passionate, helping, dedicated, and a shining example of how to make your life count, knowing that it is never too late to do so. He was loved by all who knew him and his affectionate and distinctive smile, voice, and laugh.
Frank was welcomed into heaven by many that he loved deeply including his mother, father, cherished aunts Frances Johnson and Barbara Johnson, and closest friend - his sister Venus Millington-Upshaw affectionately known as Peaches.
He leaves to carry his memory and legacy: his children - Jamiyla Millington (Jared Monts), Dr. Tanisha Butler, and Tyrone Millington; adored step-children Jennika and Jenesha Holloway; beloved grandchildren Joecole Millington, Jajuan Frias, Karimma Harp (Darius Harp), Jordyn Frias, and Sarah Coleman; great-grandchildren Makhai Millington and Ra’jah Harp; treasured siblings Leslie Millington (Dana Millington) and Lynne Millington Baker (Roderick Baker); close cousin - Andre Johnson; a special friend - Carlisa Fears; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
