Frank E. Rosenburg

Frank E. Rosenburg

May 19, 1952 March 14, 2026

Cambridge, MA

Frank Eldon Rosenburg, the second of three children born to Herman and Mary (née Monti) Rosenburg, was born in Cambridge on May 19, 1952. A man of sharp intellect and quiet talent, he attended Cambridge High and Latin School, Stowe Preparatory School in Vermont, and the University of Massachusetts at Boston. From a young age, Frank was a gifted chess player who took pride in regularly defeating Harvard professors in matches played outside Au Bon Pain in Harvard Square during his teens and twenties.

Frank joined the military in August 1972 and served in Vietnam and Korea before receiving an honorable discharge in December 1974. He had a lifelong love of travel. While living in Florida in the 1970s, he met his first wife, Tina. In 1975, Tina gave birth to their daughter, Lisa Marie Rosenburg, his only child. Together the family spent one memorable summer traveling through all 48 contiguous states.

Frank was equally gifted with his hands. He worked as a bricklayer for the City of Cambridge and took great pride in designing and building his own home in Braintree, Massachusetts, including its handsome stone fireplace. He later worked for the United States Postal Service before opening a Sports Memorabilia and Comic Book Shop in Rockland. In the 1990s, his restless spirit led him to travel again, living for periods in South Dakota, Maine, Ohio, Kentucky, South Carolina, and Florida before returning to Massachusetts.

Frank was predeceased by his parents and his brother, David Rosenburg. He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Rosenburg of Ohio; his brother, Neil B. Rosenburg and his wife Katie of Cambridge; his niece, Sara K. Rosenburg of Brooklyn, New York; and his aunt, Pat Blankenship of Newton, Massachusetts. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
