Frank Anthony Ferrone 92, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2026, in San Diego, California. He will be remembered as an extraordinary husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather whose life was defined by love, faith, and generosity. His legacy lives on in the family he cherished and through the many lives he touched through selfless service.

Frank had an unmistakable passion for life and greeted each day with gratitude and energy. He never met a stranger he didn’t greet with a warm hello and his ready smile made people feel instantly welcome. His joyful spirit, kindness, and wit will continue to live in the hearts of all who knew him.

His determination and enthusiasm carried him across the finish line of fifty-four marathons, including races in Germany, Sweden, and five in Boston. Running was one of the many ways he celebrated life’s energy and adventure. As a devoted baseball fan, his love of the New York Yankees was a lifelong passion.

After graduating from Iona College, New Rochelle New York, Frank proudly served his country as a United States Marine Lt. from 1954 to 1962. Following his military service he attended SDSU for graduate work in Economics and Political Science, and the University of San Diego School of Law. As a member of the California Bar Association he built a respected thirty-year career as a corporate attorney with Rohr Industries. As Labor Counsel he was responsible for most elements of employment and labor law: ethics, compliance, sexual harassment, discrimination, and threat management. Upon retirement, Frank joined the faculty at UCSD Extension, teaching courses with legal applications for Human Resource personnel.

His deep faith naturally flowed into service. He was a legal advocate for the homeless at Father Joe’s Village in San Diego. Frank received multiple Wiley W. Manuel Awards for Pro Bono Legal Services from the State Bar of California, made companion calls for the homebound through the Jewish Family Services, and was an ardent supporter in the San Diego Ignatian Volunteer Corps.

Frank will be deeply missed by his family whom he loved and cherished with unwavering devotion. He is survived by his beloved wife, Jenny; their five children: Lily (Greg) Gose, Steven (Joanne) Ferrone, Paul (Julia) Ferrone, John (Denise) Ferrone, Mark (Tracy) Ferrone; 12 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.

A funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church 2766 Navajo Road, El Cajon on March 26th at 10:30 am with a reception to follow in the church hall for friends and family.

Suggested donations may be made in Frank's name to St. Judes Children's Research Hospital and the Ignatian Volunteer Corps of San Diego, 12676 Epica Ct. S.D. 92128-2301.
