Frank A. Alvarez, 76, of Fort Johnson, passed away on March 10, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loving wife and family after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Born on October 4, 1949, Frank was the son of the late Frank “Chico” Alvarez and Levina “Bobbie” (Arndt) Markes. A lifelong area resident, he graduated from the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School in 1967. He worked for the General Electric Co. in Schenectady for more than 36 years. Frank found great joy in carpentry, woodworking, boating, and camping, and he cherished quiet moments with family and friends, often with a cold Budweiser in hand.
He married Anna (Seyfried) Alvarez on September 14, 1974. In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his three dear children, Lisa (Darryll) Towsley, Frank “Ryan” Alvarez, and Lori Alvarez; his cherished grandchildren, James “Jack,” Anthony, and Andrew Towsley, Frank Tyller, and Mathilde “Maddie” Alvarez; and his siblings, Kenneth (Shiela) Alvarez, Liz (Mike) Keller, and George (Terri Jo) Alvarez. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
