June 16, 1956— March 7, 2026
Prattville, AL
Francis McCallion, a devoted father, proud United States Air Force veteran, and cherished friend, passed away on March 7, 2026. Born and raised in South Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he carried the strength, resilience, and loyalty of his hometown with him throughout his life. In 1975, he joined the Air Force and served with dedication, integrity, and pride for 20 years before retiring in 1995. He then began a 24-year career in Civil Service.
He spent his retirement years between Prattville, Alabama, and Fort Walton Beach, Florida, embracing a quieter life surrounded by family and friends. An Irish Catholic, he was an animal lover who enjoyed the outdoors, camping, and fishing. He also had a taste for lavish dinners. Those who knew him will remember his strong work ethic, sense of duty, wisdom, storytelling, and above all, how proud he was to be a father.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Charlotte Rebecca McCallion; his father, Francis Xavier McCallion Sr.; his brother, David Joseph McCallion; and his daughter, Jeanine Andrea Peterson.
He is survived by his siblings, Mary Ann, Cassie, Dianna, Bryan, and George McCallion; his ex-spouse, Floss McCallion; his children, Neil and Jim (Jenn) Peterson, Francis, David, Samantha, Billie Jo, Flossie (Adam), and Kristina McCallion; his grandchildren, Sarah and Kloe Peterson, Megan, Ethan and Harrison (Reese) Green, Abigayle Cajen, Trisha (Marah), Neveah, Kirsten and Frances McCallion, Isabella and Kelsea King, and Braxten Carroll; his great-grandchildren, Korbyn and Jhordan Cross, and Rosaline Wyatt; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.
