Francis McCallion ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Prattville Memorial Chapel & Memory Gardens on Mar. 7, 2026.It is with loving remembrance that we announce the passing of a devoted father, proud veteran,and cherished friend.Born and raised in South Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he carried the strength, resilience, andloyalty of his hometown with him throughout his life. In 1975, he answered the call to serve hiscountry by joining the United States Air Force. Over the course of 20 honorable years, he servedwith dedication, integrity, and pride. His military career took him to many places and allowedhim to touch countless lives before he retired from the Air Force in 1995. Which he then startedhis 24-year career in Civil Service.Following his distinguished service, he shared his retirement between Prattville, Alabama, andFt. Walton Beach Florida where he embraced a quieter life surrounded by family and friends. Hewas Irish Catholic, an animal lover, enjoyed the outdoors, going camping and fishing. He hadtaste for lavish dinners. He was known for his strong work ethic, sense of duty, and unwaveringlove for his family.Those who knew him will remember his wisdom, his stories, and most of all how proud he wasto be a father.He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.Proceeded in death his mother, Charlotte Rebecca McCallion; his father, Francis XavierMcCallion Sr.; his brother, David Joseph McCallion and daughter, Jeanine Andrea Peterson.He is survived by his siblings, Mary Ann, Cassie, Dianna, Bryan and George McCallion; ex-spouse, Floss McCallion; his children, Neil and Jim (Jenn) Peterson, Francis, David,Samantha, Billie Jo, Flossie (Adam), and Kristina McCallion; his grandchildren, Sarah andKloe Peterson, Megan, Ethan and Harrison (Reese) Green, Abigayle Cajen, Trisha (Marah),Neveah, Kirsten and Frances McCallion, Isabella and Kelsea King, and Braxten Carroll; hisGreat Grandchildren, Korbyn and Jhordan Cross, Rosaline Wyatt. Nieces Annisia (Tom)Morrissey, Mary Ann and Christina McAplin, Jennifer (Matthew) Kauderer, Theresa Forbes,Courtney Ann Redfield, Corinne Hesington; nephew, Phillip (JoAnna) McAplin Jr. Inaddition to many great nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.Pallbearers will be Neil Peterson, Francis McCallion, III, David McCallion, Braxten Carroll,Harrison Green, Ethan Green, Kade Zeigler and Josh Cassity.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
