Francis Rivers ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Norton, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home - Framingham on Mar. 4, 2026.Francis Joseph Rivers was born on Sept. 17, 1964, in Framingham, Massachusetts, to Louise Manning (Williams) Rivers and Francis John Rivers.He grew up in Framingham and enjoyed reading by the window with his cat. He spent summers with his family in Bradford, NH. They all went swimming in the lake and played cards and board games. Frank graduated from Framingham South high school in 1982 and was awarded a Merit Scholarship. He attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York, graduating in 1986 with a double major in Computer Science and Systems Engineering. After college, Frank was recruited by Westinghouse to work on defense contracts at their Columbia, MD location. Westinghouse patented several of Frank's innovative software solutions, contributing to the advancement of radar systems back in the mid-eighties, when computer technology was first developed.Frank cared about people and was very generous. He appreciated sending and receiving greeting cards for all occasions. He especially loved meeting with his friends to share stories over a coffee at Dunkin' Donuts.Frank died on February 26, 2026, from cardiac arrest, after a long period of health. He leaves his brothers Timothy Rivers, Lloyd Benjamin Rivers, his sister Laura (Rivers) Evans, nephews Kyle Rivers, Matthew Rivers, Samuel Rivers, Morgan Rivers, Benjamin Evans and nieces Kelley Rivers, Jennifer Rivers, Evita Rivers, Elaina Rivers, Heather Evans, and Thea Evans. He leaves his first cousins Sue (Wild) Self, Janet (Wild) Wellman, Elizabeth (Williams) Stivers, David Williams, Katherine Williams and Martha (Williams) Flint. Frank was predeceased by his parents and his first cousins Thomas Williams, Peter Williams and Pam Wild.He was a loyal and generous friend, and he will be greatly missed.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
