Francis Charles McClellan

Francis Charles McClellan, 86, of Easthampton, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 1, 2026, at his home. Born on January 11, 1940, in Northampton, he was the son of Charles and Bertha (Labarge) McClellan. Raised in Leeds, he graduated from Northampton High School before serving honorably in the United States Army from 1959 to 1963 as an electrician in Korea and as a test monitor for the Atlas missile program at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico.

After his military service, Francis trained as a land surveyor at Huntley Land Surveying in Northampton. He met and married his beloved wife, Carol Ann McClellan, with whom he shared 59 happy years until her passing in 2022. Together they raised four children. He worked as a polisher at the Smith & Wesson Factory in Springfield before returning to his true calling as a land surveyor with Heritage Land Surveying, Inc., until his retirement in Easthampton.

Francis cherished his retirement years, building model airplanes and teaching his grandchildren to fish. He especially loved escaping to his log cabin near Malone in upstate New York, where he spent many peaceful weekends with family and friends enjoying the outdoors. Known affectionately as “Mac” or “Daddy Mac,” he will be remembered for his quiet strength, devotion, and the joy he found in simple pleasures and time spent with those he loved.

He is survived by his children, Lisa Boyle and her husband David of Easthampton, Massachusetts; Steven McClellan and his wife Maria of Westerly, Rhode Island; Laura Dolan and her husband Joseph of Westford, Massachusetts; and Scott McClellan and his wife Heather of London, United Kingdom; his sister Susan McClellan of Florence and brother Alan McClellan of Leeds; ten cherished grandchildren—Jeremy, Corey, Tierney, and Ely Boyle; Kevin and Meghan McClellan; Caroline and Jason Dolan; Jack and Theodore McClellan; and Owen Boyle—and one great-grandchild. He also leaves behind his devoted caregiver, Charity Waiyaki, along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who will treasure the memories of a full and happy life shared with him and Carol.
