Francesca Mary Zielkowski, 69, of Saylorsburg, Pennsylvania, passed away on March 11, 2026, at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York City, surrounded by the family she cherished after a courageous seven-week battle with cancer.
A woman of remarkable intellect and diverse talents, Francesca earned a Master’s degree in Science and pursued a dynamic career that included work as a flight attendant, postal worker, teacher, community volunteer, and caregiver. She lived life entirely on her own terms, guided by rare conviction and an unwavering focus on the people and causes she loved. Her vivacious personality and radiant spirit filled every room she entered, and she taught her children to be strong, independent, and unapologetically themselves while surrounding them with unconditional love, support, and a constant sense of safety.
Above all, Francesca was a devoted mother who welcomed everyone into her world. She created magic and lasting memories, transforming her home into a place overflowing with freedom, play, warmth, laughter, and unique family traditions that extended to all those she touched. Deeply forgiving, endlessly nurturing, and profoundly selfless, she consistently placed the needs of others before her own.
She is survived by her husband of 36¼ years, Lawrence (Larry); her children, Walter, Rebecca, Marko, and Charles; her mother, Mary Patane; her seven siblings, Mariano, Ralph, Josephine (Eric A. Larson), Philip, Alfia (James White), Christina (Stephen Watras), and Joseph; and eight nieces and nephews. Her love, strength, and spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
