Frances Wright
June 29, 1940— March 9, 2026
Beaufort, SC
Frances (Harrison) Wright, 85, of Beaufort, South Carolina, passed peacefully in her sleep on March 9, 2026. Born on June 29, 1940, in Muncie, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late William Vernon and Marcella Gene Harrison. A 1958 graduate of Royerton High School in Muncie, Fran was voted “wittiest” in her class and carried a wonderful sense of humor throughout her life. She was known for her readiness to help anyone in need and lived by the quote, “Remember me with smiles and laughter, for that is how I will remember you. If you can only remember me with sadness and tears, then don’t remember me at all.”
In 1982, she married the late Kenneth Wright. Fran retired from Sears Roebuck in Muncie, where she formed many lifelong friendships that became like family to her. She was a breast cancer survivor and faced life’s challenges with grace and quiet strength.
She is survived by her daughter, Marsha (Gary) Widenhofer of Beaufort, South Carolina; her grandson, Michael (Julissa) Murphy; and three great-grandchildren, Mateo, Isabella, and Aaliyah of Ridgeland, South Carolina. She is also survived by her sister, Marsha Harrison of Bluffton, South Carolina; her brother, Carl Harrison of Phoenix, Arizona; and stepsons Don (Nancy) Wright of Whitmore Lake, Michigan, Ted (Teresa) Wright of Gaston, Indiana, Chris (Lori) Collett of Munford, Tennessee, and Mark (Kathy) Collett of Muncie, Indiana, along with several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and stepsons Stephen Wright and Jeff Collett.
