Frances Schumann ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home & Cremations - La Grange on Mar. 14, 2026.Frances Marie (Pietsch) Schumann, cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend passed away peacefully on Friday, March 13, 2026, in LaGrange, Texas. She was 93 well-lived years old.Frances was born on February 11, 1933, in La Grange, Texas, to Alfred A. Pietsch and Minna Hulda (Walther) Pietsch. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith on February 26th, 1933, and confirmed on April 14th, 1946, both at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Warda, Texas. It was also at Holy Cross Lutheran Church that Frances married the love of her life, Walter Schumann, on September 12, 1953. The couple made their life first in La Grange, then Austin, followed by Arlington, and finally, in Nechanitz, Texas.Frances worked outside the home on and off during those years, but the bulk of her time was spent pursuing her true calling-she was a homemaker. Frances made her home a peaceful haven for her family. Her cooking was beyond compare, and feeding loved ones and friends brought her great joy. She and Walter prioritized faith in their home and lived out the example of trusting in God and having servant hearts.Frances could often be found at church, volunteering for various groups (Dorcas circle, Braille assist, quilting, organizing a Game Day group for seniors--even when she was the most senior in attendance). She was a long-time member of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League, serving for some time as the president of the Grace Lutheran Church chapter in Arlington. In addition to her church activities, Frances loved baseball, especially her Texas Rangers. She was an original member of the Texas Rangers' Women's Club and rarely missed an opportunity to attend, watch, or listen to a game. A highlight of her baseball fandom was attending a long-awaited World Series game for the Rangers.Frances kept up-to-speed on politics, serving the Republican Party of Fayette County as an election judge for many years. She was a keen domino player and made countless memories "rattling the bones" with family and friends around her old kitchen table.Frances took absolute delight in serving her Lord, her family, her friends, her church, and her community-always with a warm smile and a hearty laugh that is a favorite memory of her children, her grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren.Frances was preceded in death by her beloved husband Walter, her brother Elmo Pietsch and his wife Helen, her sister Junell and her husband Alfred Schulz, her grandson Jon Davidson, and her nephew Daniel Pietsch.Frances is survived by her son Michael Schumann and wife Belinda of Covington, Texas; daughter Gayla and husband David Davidson of Nechanitz, Texas; daughter Donna and husband Daryl Savage of Loveland, Colorado; grandchildren: Spencer Schumann, Jacob Schumann and wife Crystal, Michaela Schumann, Danna and husband Clint Pekar, Dustin Davidson and wife Bensey, Kelsey Brown and fiancé Brandon Adams, Devin Savage, and SaVanah Savage; twelve great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.Funeral arrangements are through Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home & Cremations in La Grange, Texas.
