Frances M. Gill

Frances M. Gill, formerly Kolenda, of Stamford, Connecticut, died peacefully at the age of 99 years and 5 months on March 2, 2026. Born on October 16, 1926, in Stamford, she lived her entire life in the city she loved.

In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edward M. Gill; her adored granddaughter, Rebecca (Becky) Howard-Pon; and her treasured brothers, Anthony, Chester, and Walter (Babe). She is survived by her three loving daughters and their families: Michele Gill of Stamford, who was also her best friend and devoted caregiver; Kathy Howard (Martin) of Poughkeepsie, New York; and Donna Gill Lisitano (Sebastian) of Berlin, Connecticut. She cherished her grandchildren, Andrew Howard (Gina) of Long Island City, New York, Lauren Lisitano Austin (Dan) of Boston, Massachusetts, Michael Lisitano (Daria) of South Portland, Maine, and Daren Pon of Yorktown Heights, New York; and her great-granddaughter, Rebecca (Becca) Howard of Long Island City, New York.

A graduate of Stamford High School after attending Holy Name of Jesus School, Frances found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved spending time with her family, attending Mass at Holy Name of Jesus Church, and participating in the church’s Seniors lunches, where she was often the eldest. She delighted in watching birds, feeding squirrels, tending her yard and flower garden, solving word searches, reading the Stamford Advocate, traveling and shopping with Michele, and enjoying a meal out when salmon was on the menu. Those who knew her will remember her as a friendly, kind, and compassionate woman.

Her family extends heartfelt thanks to the compassionate team at Home Matters Caregiving, led by Asha Scher, for the care that kept Frances happy and comfortable in her later years.
