Frances "Pivinski" Kobernick

Frances Kobernick, known affectionately as Fran, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2026, at the age of 89 in West Orange, New Jersey. Born on January 31, 1937, in Plains Township, Pennsylvania, she was the cherished daughter of the late Chester and Bernadine Pivinski. Fran grew up alongside her siblings, the late Leon Pivinski, Chester Pivinski, and Rose Stepien. She spent her early years in Garfield, New Jersey, where she attended Pope Pius High School in Passaic, before making her home in Clifton, where she raised her family and lived most of her life before moving to West Orange.

A devoted Catholic, Fran was a longtime parishioner of St. Philip the Apostle R.C. Church in Clifton. Her faith guided her through life as an active member of the Rosary Society, the Columbiettes, and the Prime Timers, and she served with honor and reverence as a Eucharistic Minister. She also found joy and friendship through her involvement with the Valley Seniors, the Red Hat Society, and the Sisters of the Presentation. For 23 years, she worked at Preakness Healthcare Center in Wayne, retiring after dedicated service to her community.

Family was the heart of Fran's world. She was the loving mother of James Kobernick and his wife Susan, Gary Kobernick and his wife Nicole, and the late John Kobernick. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Arnold Kobernick. Fran is survived by her adoring grandchildren, Jon Kobernick, Brandon Kobernick, Jennifer Pagano and her husband James, Justin Kobernick, and Lauren Kobernick, as well as her treasured great-grandchild, Christian Pagano.

Fran will be remembered as a faith-filled, kind, and generous soul whose warmth touched everyone around her. Her unwavering devotion, compassionate spirit, and deep love for family and friends leave a lasting legacy of grace and service.
