White Plains, NY

Frances "Fran" Jones, 83, of White Plains, New York, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2026. Born in Olean, New York on December 4, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd Edwin and Kathryn Elaine (née Metler) Harris. Fran graduated from Olean High School before earning undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University at Buffalo, University at Albany, and New York University.

A dedicated educator for more than 30 years at Yorktown High School, Fran taught Mathematics and Computer Science with a deep love for children. She touched the lives of countless students and colleagues through her passion and positive influence. Earlier in life, she raised her son as a single working mother before finding lasting love with George Jones at a local square dance. They shared 40 beautiful years together.

Fran was predeceased by her sister Barbara DeFiore and her first husband, Jack Taibi, Sr. She is survived by her husband George Jones of White Plains, her son Jack (Danielle) Taibi of Ridgefield, Connecticut, and her cherished grandchildren, Amelia and Luca. She is also survived by her sister Elizabeth (Joe) Piette.

Fran had a lifelong appreciation for art and music. She painted, played the piano, and enjoyed classical music, while capturing countless photographs of people, places, and moments. She delighted in watching these creative talents bloom in her grandchildren, who often transformed her dining room into an art studio. A strong advocate for the environment, she worked to promote greenspace in White Plains through accessible walking trails and tree-planting initiatives. She cherished family walks along the beach on Cape Cod and embraced community life through block parties, parades, and historical celebrations in both White Plains and Eastham, Massachusetts, where neighbors felt like family.
