Frances J. Muraca, formerly of West Mifflin, passed away on March 11, 2026, at the age of 85. She was the beloved wife of 44 years of the late Carmen A. Muraca. Frances was a loving mother to Deborah (Thomas) Gourash, Mark (Suzanne) Muraca, Richard (Jodi) Muraca, and Amy (Bruce) Johnson. She was the treasured “Nunny” of Christopher (Jessica) Gourash, Eric (Sondra) Gourash, Amanda (Scott) Kenders, Erika (Jason) Zebrek, Jessica (Daniel) Critchfield, Dominic Muraca, Gregor (Abigail) Johnson, Cyd (Kate) Johnson, Mia Muraca, and Giuliana Muraca, and the great-grandmother of 13. She was the daughter of the late Wesley J. and Frances M. (Zirngibl) Henger, sister of Janet Murphy and the late Joseph Henger, and is survived by generations of nieces and nephews.
A woman of deep faith and quiet strength, Frances was a devoted wife, mother, friend, and neighbor. She served as an active member of Holy Angels Church of the Blessed Trinity Parish, where she was a Eucharistic Minister and participated in the Ladies Guild as well as the Women’s and Funeral Ministries. She also gave generously of her time as a dedicated election poll worker.
Known for her kindness, Frances never spoke an unkind word about anyone. She possessed a remarkable ability to forgive and forget, always choosing to see the good in people. Even as she faced the challenges of memory loss later in life, she retained the happy, loving spirit that endeared her to everyone. She cherished time with her family, especially during the holidays when she baked countless Christmas cookies, often enlisting help to make even more. Frances also loved chocolate, good food, and playing with children. She will be remembered for her warmth, generosity, faith, and the love she shared so freely with all those around her.
