She was born in Nash County, NC. The daughter of the late William Eliot Cooper and Ruth Fisher Cooper.Fondly known as Gwen, she brought joy to friends and family gatherings with her sense of humor, charm, wit and enthusiasm. Gwen was a graduate of Meredith College and an employee of Wells Fargo in Raleigh for many years.Gwen is survived by her son John Eliot Wilcox of Raleigh; her daughter Leeann Wilcox Kennedy and husband Eric of Wilmington, NC. She is also survived by her sister Catherine Cooper of Raleigh; nephew Matthew Mumpower and family of Apex, NC; many dear cousins in the Fisher family.A graveside service will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, March 17, 2026 at Forest Hill Cemetery.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
