Florence Kirkpatrick Eddlemon, age 96, of Eustace, Texas, passed away on March 14, 2026. She was born in Goshen Community, Texas on December 29, 1929, to parents, John Thomas and Lola (Jackson) Kirkpatrick.
Florence was known for her very loving and welcoming nature. Though reserved, when she spoke, her words carried meaning and were deeply heard by those around her. She found joy and connection through games, particularly dominoes and bridge, reflecting her love for family and togetherness.
For 27 years, Florence devoted her professional talents to Curtis Mathis Manufacturing in Athens, Texas. Following her retirement, she embraced a new chapter by returning home to assist with the family business. Florence lived a life marked by service, dedication, and remarkable contributions that left an indelible mark on the lives she touched.
Florence had many accomplishments that extended beyond her career and personal interests. She held a prominent role in her community, proudly cutting the ribbon and delivering the speech at the opening of Purtis Creek State Park. She also served with distinction on the city council for eight years and as the secretary-treasurer for Goshen Cemetery for an equal duration. Florence’s dedication was further exemplified by her instrumental work in securing the veteran monument in the town square and her active participation on various church committees, at First Baptist Church of Eustace, where she was a member since the age of 16, underscoring her commitment to civic and spiritual life.
Florence is preceded in death by her parents, John and Lola Kirkpatrick; husband, Homer Eddlemon; son James Pate; brother, Jesse Kirkpatrick, and brother, Cecil Kirkpatrick.
Florence is survived by her daughter, Deborah Crawford and husband Marvin of Eustace, Texas; granddaughter, Jennifer Crawford of Eustace, Texas; grandson, Tommy Pate and Kevyn of Eustace, Texas; grandson, Marc Pate and wife Thuy of Rockwall, Texas; great-granddaughter, Madison of Melissa, Texas; great-granddaughter, Landry of Rockwall, Texas; great-grandson, Mason of Rockwall, Texas; great-grandson, Kyle of Eustace, Texas; great-granddaughter, Sydney of Port Royal, South Carolina; great-great-granddaughter of Port Royal, South Carolina; and daughter-in-law, Frieda Pate of Rowlett, Texas; as well as numerous other family, friends, and loved ones.
