Florence Bernal Parra

Florence Bernal Parra, 94, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away peacefully. Born in Taos Pueblo, she was a full-blooded member of the Pueblo and spent her adult life as a longtime resident of Albuquerque. A dedicated nurse, Florence cared for patients at BCMC and Presbyterian Hospitals before continuing her calling in home health care. She took great joy in her profession and in caring for others.

A devout Catholic, Florence was a longtime member of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church, where she worshipped alongside her husband, John, for more than sixty years. The couple married on June 28, 1958, and shared fifty-seven loving years together before being reunited in heaven.

She is survived by her daughter, Melissa Parra Wilcox and husband Michael; her son, Matthias J. Parra; grandchildren Jose “Boo,” Briana Christina and husband Fernando, Jedidiah “Jedi” and partner Ashley, and Dante; and great-grandchildren Mia, Fernando, Guillermo, and Emilliano. Florence was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John E. Parra, and her great-granddaughter, Janiece Marie Fernandez.
