Simsbury, CT

Fidel DelRosario passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, February 24, 2026, at the age of 82. Fidel was born in San Nicholas, Baao Camarines Sur, Phillipines on April 4, 1944 to his Father Mariano Platon Del Rosario (Deceased) and Mother Paciencia Babilonia(Deceased).

Fidel was truly a renaissance man. He studied in Spain on a full scholarship, and then moved to Seattle to get his masters in English. Fidel’s original poems have been published in “Who’s Who in American Poetry” and Eber & Wein Publishing “Best Poets of 2018.”

Ultimately, Fidel found his calling in the culinary world. He studied at the Culinary Institute of America in Poughkeepsie, New York. Inspired by his mentor Chef Koji, he created incredible ice sculptures which won him acclaim. He went on to employment in many hotels and restaurants, winding up his career at Ethel Walker School in Simsbury Connecticut.

Along with dogs, poetry, and watching tennis, he loved his short stack of pancakes with sausage at New Britain diner, where he held celebrity status. Fidel was a jokester. One couldn’t help laughing even if they were terribly corny.

Fidel shared 40 years with his life partner Dona Rochelle Blazuk. They shared their love of dogs, including Regi, Koji, and Paulo along with others. Dona and Fidel travelled extensively, including India, Rome, and Jerusalem.

Fidel was predeceased by his life partner Dona, his brother Salve, and his uncle Bishop Manuel p. Del Rosario, Former Bishop of Malolos, Bulacan , Philippines. He is survived by his brother George and his wife Miriam, his sister Aida and niece Celia.

Services will be held privately with family.
