Fernando "Mookie" Leon, a beloved son, father, brother, uncle and friend, passed away on February 28, 2026, at the age of 61. Born on May 16, 1964, in Tucson, AZ, Fernando approached life with a happy and easy-going spirit that touched the hearts of all who knew him. He was cherished not only for his vibrant personality but also for the loving and caring way he engaged with family, friends, and neighbors.

Fernando's life was marked by his deep love for children; he adopted his niece and raised her as his own, embodying the essence of family and support. As a Godfather to many of his nieces and nephews, he played an integral role in their lives, endearing himself further to his extended family through his kindness and warmth.

He found immense joy in bringing people together, whether it was during family cookouts, holiday gatherings, or simply enjoying quality time with those he loved. A charming individual and a true lady's man, Fernando's friendships were numerous and intimate. He was a beacon of joy, filling rooms with laughter and love through his passion for music and singing, which brought smiles to countless faces.

Fernando is survived by his loving mother, Josie Leon, his child, Marie Bella Leon, and his siblings, Grace Leon, Martha Hoffman, and Eliza Leon. His legacy continues on through many nieces, nephews, God-children, and friends who carry forward the light he shared with them.

He was preceded in death by his father, Fernando E. Leon, who will welcome him into the eternal embrace with open arms.

A visitation will be held in his honor on March 17, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM, with a prayer service from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Martinez Funeral Chapels in Tucson, located at 2580 S 6th Ave.

Fernando Leon will be remembered not only for his infectious joy but also for the profound impact he made on the lives of those fortunate enough to know him. He leaves behind a rich legacy of love, laughter, and enduring memories.
