Fermin Porraz Moreno Jr.

Fermin Porraz Moreno Jr.

August 30, 1950 March 5, 2026

Salinas, CA

Fermin Porraz Moreno Jr., 75, passed away on March 5, 2026, at home, surrounded by his family. Born on August 30, 1950, in Bakersfield, he moved with his family to Salinas, where he spent the rest of his life.

A proud member of the first graduating class of Alisal High School in 1969, Fermin excelled in track and field, cross-country, wrestling, and pole vaulting, while also participating in the marching band. He immediately enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving as a Lance Corporal (E3) with the MOS of 0311, rifleman. During the Vietnam War, he carried out reconnaissance and marksman duties on difficult and dangerous missions, serving with courage alongside his fellow Marines. After his military service, he worked as a packaging line supervisor at Spreckels Sugar Company and later as a splicer for AT&T.

Fermin met the love of his life, Glenda, on December 10, 1989, and they married in 1993. Together they enjoyed road trips in their motorhome, bowling, fishing, betting on horse races, and sharing constant laughter and banter. They cherished annual anniversary trips to San Francisco, Cambria, and Maui, building a life filled with adventure and deep love. Known for his extraordinary generosity and his steadfast belief in taking care of one another, Fermin was the greatest brother and protector to his family growing up, and later extended that same fierce devotion to the family he built with Glenda. He stood as their shield, always ready to face any challenge first so that his loved ones would be safe.

He had a profound love for California, especially the ocean, and traveled anywhere to be present for his daughters and their families during milestone moments. He was deeply proud of each of them and, with every grandchild’s birth, would proudly declare that the child looked just like him. A passionate fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Las Vegas Raiders, he also loved riding his Harleys, driving his Mustang GT 5.0, and maintaining an enormous collection of hats representing teams, organizations, colleges, and people he cared about. He was rarely seen without his denim jacket or signature brown leather coat. Fermin was a proud member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7895, American Legion Post 31, and Elks Lodge 614.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Glenda; his daughters Andrea Triano (Marco), Julie Feely (Scott), and Jenny Trask (Josh); and his dog, Lady. He was a proud grandfather to Emily, Gabriella, Sophia, Claire, Karli, Nathan, Avery, Luciana, Noelle, Joel, Mateo, Aly, and Blake. He is also survived by his siblings Elsa Sandoval (Joe), Jose Luis Moreno (Susie), Carol Busane Morgan (Michael), Nick Busane, Anna Busane Stout, John Moreno, Yvette de la Rosa (Mario), Laura Moreno, Miguel Moreno (Bee Moreno), Anthony Moreno (Gina), and step-mother Victoria Navarro Moreno, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and lifelong friends Raul Rede and David Yvarra.

Fermin was preceded in death by his parents, Fermin P. Moreno Sr. and Irma C. Moreno, and his brother Frank “Rocky” Busane.

He will be remembered for his strength, pride, integrity, generosity, and unwavering devotion to family. His legacy will live on through everyone fortunate enough to have known and loved him. As he always said, “Take it easy.”
