A longtime resident of Colleyville, Texas, Felix was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose presence left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.Felix was born on August 30, 1949, in Santa Rita, Guam, to Francisco Iriarte Alcantara and Rose Lizama Perez Alcantara. He spent his early years between Guam and Hawaii, before later living in Germany, where he graduated from high school in Frankfurt. These early experiences living around the world helped shape his lifelong love of travel, adventure, and the ocean.Felix later attended the University of Hawaii, graduating in 1971. While at the university, he played football as a linebacker and joined the ROTC program, which set him on the path to military service and a life in aviation. Upon graduation, he was commissioned directly into the United States Air Force, where he began what would become a distinguished career as a pilot.Flying was not just Felix's profession, it was his passion. A pilot at heart, he proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, eventually achieving the rank of Lieutenant Colonel with the 181st Airlift Squadron. He dedicated many years to military service before retiring in August 1999.Felix also enjoyed a distinguished career as a pilot with American Airlines, where he flew from 1978 to September of 2011. Whether serving his country or transporting passengers across the world, he found great joy in being in the sky and carried with him a deep respect for the responsibility and privilege of.Felix married the love of his life, Amy Alcantara. Together they built a life filled with travel, laughter, and family gatherings that became cherished memories for all who joined them.Felix was preceded in death by his parents, Francisco Iriarte Alcantara and Rose Lizama Perez Alcantara, and his brother, Rodney Alcantara.He is survived by his loving wife, Amy Alcantara; his siblings Bonnie Conger, Leslie Stewart, Jimmy Alcantara, and Randy Alcantara, Alan Alcantara; and his children Jeff Alcantara, Justin Alcantara, Janalyn Hennegan, and Nathan Alcantara.Felix was also a proud and devoted grandfather to Lelia Alcantara, Isaac Alcantara, Asher Alcantara, James Alcantara, and Brooklyn Alcantara, each of whom brought him tremendous joy.Those who knew Felix knew a man who was truly loved by many. He had a way of making an impact on everyone he met. When Felix spoke, people listened, knowing his words carried thought, wisdom, and meaning. He had a calm and laid-back nature that made others feel welcome and at ease.Felix was also a devout Christian who took great pride in his faith and in leading and participating in many church groups throughout his life, including the ROMEO group, where he enjoyed fellowship, friendship, and shared faith with others.Felix loved to travel, especially to Hawaii or on cruises. If he was watching the sunset over the ocean, he was exactly where he wanted to be. He found happiness in life's simple pleasures, spending time with family, relaxing by the pool during the summer, or gathering around the kitchen with good food, drinks, and great company. Wherever Felix was, there was always laughter, conversation, and a sense of joy.More than anything, Felix loved his family. The life he built with them was his greatest pride, and the memories he created will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.Felix will be laid to rest on March 26, 2026. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Gateway Church, North Richland Hills Campus, located at 7501 Davis Blvd., North Richland Hills, TX 76182, beginning at 10:00 a.m.Interment will take place at 2:00 p.m. at the DFW National Cemetery, located at 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX 75211.John 14:6Jesus told him, I am the way, the truth, and the life.
