Felicidad Milay ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Holy Angels Funeral Center & Holy Sepulchre Cemetery on Mar. 7, 2026.Felicidad Rosal Milay passed away peacefully on February 24, 2026, at the age of 87, surrounded by her loving children at her side.Born on January 23, 1939, Felicidad, known affectionately as "Mom", or "Mama Fely" to her family, lived a life profoundly shaped by her deep love of music. She attended Santa Isabel College in Manila, where she graduated from its renowned Conservatory School of Music. As a gifted concert pianist and extraordinarily dedicated teacher, the piano was the unwavering constant throughout her life. She taught piano for over 70 years, right up until her final days, sharing her artistry and wisdom with generations of students. Her home was filled with the sounds of scales, sonatas, gentle corrections, and patient repetitions. Through her teaching, she imparted not only technical skill but also perseverance, discipline, and the pursuit of excellence. To her students, whom she always referred to as her "pupils", she gave far more than lessons; she shared a piece of her spirit. Music was never merely a profession or hobby for her, it was the truest expression of who she was, and she remained committed to it until the very end.Her musical gifts extended far beyond private lessons and concert stages. Mom served as music director for numerous faith communities, enriching worship services with her talent, leadership, and devotion. She held this role at Saint Anne's Catholic Church, St. Bede's Catholic Church, the chapel at Moffett Field Naval Air Station, the chapel at Alameda Naval Base, the chapel at Travis Air Force Base, and the chapel at Naval Air Station (NAS) Guam. In each setting, she directed choirs, selected sacred music, and brought harmony and inspiration to congregations, military personnel, and their families, often across decades of service tied to her family's moves and her own unwavering calling.Beyond her artistic world, Felicidad demonstrated remarkable loyalty and commitment. She devoted 25 years of her professional life to Kaiser Permanente, bringing the same steadfast dedication to her work that she gave to her music and her students. During her time there, she created and led a beloved Christmas musical program, delighting employees, patients, and the entire community with her performances and arrangements each holiday season until her retirement. Once she committed to something, whether a piece of music, a pupil, a job, a choir, or her family, she stayed with it fully. Her passing came suddenly and far too soon. What began as mild nausea quickly led to a hospital stay, and within just seven days, an aggressive form of lymphoma took her from us. The rapidity of it left her family stunned and heartbroken. Yet even as her body weakened, her spirit remained resilient. From her hospital bed, she reached out to family and friends with love and concern. In her final days, her children were together with her, she was never alone. There was a profound sense of peace in the room when she quietly left this world.Mom lived a complex, full life marked by strength and resilience. She was the heart of her family, a woman whose love, discipline, and quiet determination touched everyone around her.She is survived by her three children: daughter Rachel; daughter Ramila and son-in-law Ike; and son Ramir and daughter-in-law Germaine. She was a beloved grandmother to Christopher, Niko, Riley, Reece, Zeke, and Raine, and a proud great-grandmother to Leah and Rowen. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched through more than seven decades of teaching, in the joyful Christmas programs she created at Kaiser Permanente, in the sacred music and worship she directed across churches and military chapels around the world, in the perseverance she instilled, and in the enduring love she gave so generously to her family. She will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and always carried in our hearts.Rest in peace, Mom.
