Federico Arreguin Cano Jr., known lovingly as Fred to his family and friends, passed away on March 6, 2026, in Austin, Texas, after a period of health complications. Born on July 31, 1947, in Alice, Texas, he was the cherished son of the late Federico R. Cano Sr. and Tomasa Cano. A man of deep faith, Fred lived his Christian values through kindness, generosity, and quiet strength, touching the lives of everyone around him.
He served honorably in the United States Army and National Guard before building a respected career in the automotive industry, where his integrity and strong work ethic earned him admiration. Fred also pursued studies in computer programming at a local business college in Austin. His greatest devotion remained his family. He shared 56 years of loving partnership with his wife, Julia Cano, and took immense pride in their two children, Noe A. Cano and Elisha D. Ramos, and her husband Tony Ramos. His heart overflowed with joy for his grandsons, Roger Vasquez Jr. and Tony Ramos Jr. He is also survived by his brother, Juan Cano, with whom he shared a lifelong bond.
Beyond his faith and family, Fred cherished classic cars and could often be found at car shows, admiring fine craftsmanship and exchanging stories with fellow enthusiasts. He was also a devoted supporter of the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Longhorns, making game days special occasions filled with cheer and camaraderie.
Fred’s life was defined by love, faith, and unwavering commitment to those he held dear. He leaves behind a legacy that will continue to guide and inspire his family, who will carry his memory with deep affection and gratitude.
