Fannie Smith, 72, of Sheboygan, passed away on Friday, March 6, 2026, at home. Born on May 16, 1953, to the late Leroy and Daisy (Bowman) Smith, she graduated from Simmons High School and spent two years at Mississippi Valley State University. Her path led her to Gretna, Louisiana, where she worked for Dos Gringos, then to San Clemente, California, where she was employed at the nuclear power plant. She later returned to Hollandale, Mississippi, working for Leroy Percy State Park while taking speech pathology classes at Delta State University in Cleveland. She continued her education with an entrepreneur class at Mississippi Valley State University before moving to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where she obtained her real estate license and worked for Century 21. In her later years, she lived in Mulberry Grove, Illinois, working with the kitchen staff at Greenville University, before settling in Sheboygan.
Fannie found deep joy in fishing, gardening, cooking, baking, and making her homemade wine. She also loved playing cards and spending time with her close-knit group of neighbors. A kind, generous, and faithful servant to her Lord, she kept her children, grandchildren, sisters, and extended family at the center of her heart. Her hardworking spirit and humorous outlook brought light and joy to those around her.
She is survived by her three children, Stacey Smith, Lawrence (Lisa) Adams, and Cassondra Adams; her twelve grandchildren, Jaylin Murray, Jakobe Smith, Makiya Thigpin, Keyonna Patton, Skyelar Smith, Darius Smith, Deja Adams, Kayden Adams, Kalea Adams, Bryn Adams, Sophie Adams, and Claire Adams; and her sisters, Annie Bell Adams, Ida Bea Hill, Daisy Lee Latham, Ida Mae (Lee) Sherrod, Helen Marie Johnson, and Theresa Police.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leroy and Daisy Smith, and her siblings, Nola Day, Dorothy Wilson, Bernita Evans, Andrew Latham, Freddie Latham, and George Williams.
