Chicago, IL
Faith Angela Ho Sang was born on October 8, 1959, in Kingston, Jamaica, to Myrtle Ruby Lawrence and Gladston Skelton. She attended Central Branch Primary School and Arden High School before moving to the United States at the age of 15. Settling in Chicago, Illinois, she graduated from Lakeview High School at 16 and briefly attended DePaul University. She later built a successful career in telecommunications before transitioning into insurance.
In 1984, Faith married the love of her life, Derrick Michael Ho Sang. Together they raised three children—Mecalia Jeanne Paul, Natanya Cherie Ho Sang, and Derrick Andre Ho Sang—who completed their family. For 41 years, she was a loving and passionate wife, mother, and friend. Faith cherished time with her family and friends, enjoying dancing, reading, sewing, crocheting, cooking, and entertaining. Her home was a warm and safe gathering place for loved ones and neighborhood children alike.
Known for her brilliant mind, feisty spirit, and protective nature, Faith could master any skill, speak to any audience, and light up a room. She lived life fully and was often the heart of the party, drawing people to her vibrant energy. Those who knew her understood that her inner fire, while welcoming, could also fiercely defend those she loved.
Faith is survived by her devoted husband, Derrick Michael Ho Sang; her brother, Paul Anthony Skelton, and other siblings; her children, Mecalia Jeanne Paul (Allen), Natanya Cherie Ho Sang, and Derrick Andre Ho Sang (Lindsay); her grandchildren, Christopher James-Mason Paul, Marcus Anthony Paul (Vanessa), Naomi Kyla Medrano (Luis), Andre Michael Ho Sang, and Cameron Michael Ho Sang; and many other relatives and friends. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
