He was the husband of Lucia (Thiel) Nelo for 68 years.He was born January 14, 1934, in Bellefonte, PA. The son of the late Charles J. and Frances (Bruno) Nelo. Richard was the owner and operator of Nello Tire for many years. Richard was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving during the Korean War. He was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, American Legion in Dallastown and VFW Post 7045. Richard was a devoted fan of Penn State football, spending countless years traveling to Beaver Stadium to cheer for the Nittany Lions.Richard is survived by his wife (Lucia) and five daughters: Deborah Ashman and husband Calvin, Gina Russell and husband Greg, Kathleen Reter and husband Brad, Natalie Nelo and husband Thomas Watson, Lisa Nelo, seven grandchildren: Jamie Ashman, Calvin Ashman, Jr., Dan Russell, Amanda Stevens, Joseph Reter, Andrew Reter, Jessica Walton Pantelich, eight great grandchildren, and a sister Rita Hall. Richard was one of eight children born to his parents.Above all else, his family was everything to him.Funeral services will be private.
