Evonne Ballast

Evonne Ruth "Von" Ballast, age 84, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, February 28, 2026, following a long battle with dementia. Von enjoyed golfing, sewing, knitting and especially the time spent with her grandchildren attending so many of their events. For many years, she and Gord enjoyed their winters in Gulf Shores, AL. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Gordon. Von is lovingly remembered by her children, Douglas Ballast, Dawn (Randy) Baker, Dave (Jamie) Ballast, Dorie (Ted) Boomsma; 17 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren, with another on the way; sister, Marilyn Emelander; sisters-in-law Linda VandenBerg, Christine (Donald) Jensen, Betty (Darl) Richardson. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM on Friday, March 6, and Saturday, March 7, prior to the service from 10 - 10:45 AM at Stroo Funeral Home, 1095 68th St. SE, Grand Rapids, 49508, where the funeral service will be held at 11 AM. Pastor Evan Heerema will officiate. Interment will be in Winchester Cemetery. Memorial contributions in memory of Von may be made to Holland Home.
