Everett Raymond Davis, age 85, of French Creek, West Virginia, died on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at the home of his dear friend in Lusby, Maryland. Born on September 8, 1940, in Ellamore, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Wilford L. and Valta Rowan Davis.
He is survived by his three children, Shane Davis and wife Anita of Jay, Florida, Jennifer Rohrbaugh and husband Kenny of Lothian, Maryland, and Paula Puffinburger of Bunker Hill, West Virginia; one stepson, Joseph Shunamon and wife Kristine of Orlando, Florida; nine grandchildren, Jessica Wells and husband Robert of San Diego, California, Kelsy Anderson and husband John of Bunker Hill, Gabriel, Wyatt, Harley, and Hunter Rohrbaugh all of Lothian, and Kira Snavely, Sarah, and Ashley Shunamon all of Orlando; two great-granddaughters, Savannah Wells and Adeline Anderson; one sister, Lieuthanna Hall; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Joshua Salyer, his son-in-law, Randy Puffinburger, ten brothers, Ira “Bud,” Wilford Lorn, James “Jim,” Artis, Harry, Larry “Beanie,” Mason, Douglas, Donald, and Ruhl, and three sisters, Sylvia Zirkle, Lillian Linger, and Macil Robinson.
Mr. Davis served in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1970, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant and earning the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Good Conduct Medal. He began his working life as a coal miner before joining the Metropolitan Police Department, where he served from 1970 to 1990, and later served as a U.S. Marshal from 1990 to 1993. He took great pride in his role as “the law” and cherished time spent with his grandchildren. In his leisure, he enjoyed playing cards with family and friends, surprising others with his famous taser cane, sharing jokes, and telling stories.
