Evelyn Sue Hunt

Evelyn Sue Leverett Hunt, age 80, passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2026, under the care of South Georgia Hospice.

Born on August 6, 1945, in Enoree, South Carolina, Evelyn spent her career as an administrative assistant with the Appling County Department of Family and Children Services. A longtime member of the Baxley Church of God, she was deeply involved in the music ministry, bus ministry, and nursing home ministry. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who found great joy in reading and in the company of her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Viola Clevenger Leverett, and her sister, Judy L. Shealy.

Survivors include her husband, Kenneth H. Hunt; daughters, Deborah Hunt Moody Aspinwall and Katie Marie Hunt; grandchildren, Kayla Danielle Moody Gruber and Brandon Robert Moody; great-grandchildren, Maeleigh Kate Padgett, Mercie Beth Gruber, Gerald Luke Gruber, and Madelyn Blake Moody; her sister, Trudy Chapman (Dr. Michael Ray Chapman); and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at a later date, with inurnment in Moody Cemetery.
