Evelyn Marie Warack

Evelyn Marie Warack, née Ulrey, 95, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, passed away on March 5, 2026. Born on May 11, 1930, in Stanley, Wisconsin, she was the youngest of five children born to William and Alice (née Baker) Ulrey. After her mother died when Evelyn was only two months old, she was raised by her aunt and uncle, Bessie and Clifford Manier, alongside her eleven cousins, who became like siblings to her. Her father later married Berniece, with whom he had a son, Bernard (Sonny), and Evelyn maintained close ties with them and her biological siblings throughout her life.

Evelyn graduated from nursing school at Swedish Covenant in 1952. While working as a nurse, she met and married Leonard John Conrad. They had one son, Leonard, before Leonard Sr. passed away at the age of 25. She later worked as a labor and delivery nurse at Condell Hospital in Libertyville, Illinois, where she met Glenn Jobey. They married and had two children, Kevin and JoAnn, before divorcing in 1968.

In the years that followed, Evelyn met Andrew Warack at a family wedding. They married in 1976 and shared a long and happy marriage until his passing in 2009. Together they created a blended family of seven children: Leonard, Kevin, and JoAnn, along with Andrew’s children, Linda, Maria, Andrew, and Andrea.

Evelyn and Andrew retired early and spent many joyful years traveling across the United States and Canada in their RV, as well as taking trips abroad, before settling in Tucson, Arizona. She planned large family vacations for up to thirty relatives to destinations including Orlando, Williamsburg, Lake Tahoe, Sedona, and Whitefish. In retirement, she took up stained glass art and fused glass jewelry, creating many pieces that her family will treasure for years to come. Later, she moved to John Knox Village in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, to be near her daughter JoAnn and son Kevin, living independently until January of this year.

Evelyn is survived by her children Leonard Conrad, Kevin (Donna) Jobey, and JoAnn (Jerry) Stover; her stepchildren Linda (Ken) Volin, Maria (Marty) Pinkowski, Andrew (Jan) Warack, and Andrea (Andy) Nielsen; and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband Andrew, her first and second husbands, her parents, the aunt and uncle who raised her, her siblings, and the cousins she cherished as siblings. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all.
