July 1, 1944— March 12, 2026
Pawtucket, RI
Evelyn J. (Graiko) Nadeau, 81, of Pawtucket, passed away on March 12, 2026, at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence. She was the wife of the late Roger “Pete” C. Nadeau.
Born in Pawtucket to the late Alexander and Sophie (Piepszny) Graiko, Evelyn remained a lifelong resident of her hometown. She worked at The Miriam Hospital for more than 25 years, serving in Admissions, the Emergency Department, Patient Registration, and as a Unit Secretary on various floors, as well as in the Recovery Department, Coronary Care Unit, and Intensive Care Unit.
A devoted communicant of Holy Cross Polish National Catholic Church in Central Falls, Evelyn served on the Parish Committee, belonged to the Ladies Adoration Society, taught Sunday School, and participated in countless church activities. She especially cherished her time volunteering in the Polish kitchen alongside her late husband and fellow parishioners, and she carried warm memories of her early years teaching Sunday School. Her deep love for her faith and her church remained a guiding force throughout her life.
Evelyn found joy in reading and crocheting, creating handmade gifts—blankets, hats, scarves, and slippers—for family and friends. She and her husband enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas, where she played the slot machines and often returned with winnings to share. A lifelong Boston Red Sox fan, she first fell in love with the team listening to games on the radio with her father and later watched every game on television. She treasured her visit to Fenway Park and a trip to Camden Yards in Baltimore. She was also a loving dog mom to Princess, Happy, Jessie, Brittany, and her beloved Maggie, and she quietly supported animal welfare causes for many years.
She is survived by her daughters, Robin Nadeau of Massachusetts and Tracy Giblin and her husband William of Nevada; her cherished grandchildren, Mia and Sophie Giblin of Nevada; her dog Maggie; and many dear relatives and friends, including Alice Nadeau and her partner Manuel Barbosa.
