June 21, 1948— March 14, 2026
Zelienople, PA
Evelyn Elizabeth “Betsy” Buck Garmen, 77, formerly of North Sewickley Township, passed away on March 14, 2026. She had longed to be reunited with her husband, John Clark Garmen, who died on August 14, 2024.
Born on June 21, 1948, in Germantown, Pennsylvania, to the late Lucien and Flora E. Veiock Buck, Betsy graduated from Beaver Falls Area Senior High School in 1966 and attended Beaver County Community College. She retired in 2007 from the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Butler, Pennsylvania, after twenty years of dedicated service. She found great joy in her family, tending her garden, and listening to the songs of birds.
She is survived by her sister, Gertrude “Trudy” (Mark) Hutchinson of Altamont, New York, and her daughters, Patricia (James) Schaffer of West Sunbury and Terri Brown (Josh Winschel) of Ellwood City. Betsy took great pride in her six grandchildren—Brian (Ashley) Schaffer of Slippery Rock, Joanna (Layne) Kreibel of Petrolia, Curtis (Leanne) Brown of North Sewickley Township, Nickolas (Aubree) Brown of Morgantown, West Virginia, Alexander (Maria) Brown of Franklin Township, and Emma Brown of New Castle—and her fifteen great-grandchildren: Lilly and Carter Schaffer; Nolan, Myah, and Sydnee Kreibel; Ryan and Aubrey Klein; Abeni, Curtis Jr., Avery, and Colton Brown; Scott and Nathan Brown; Bearett and Berkley Brown; and one great-great-grandson, Atlas Hoffman. Many nieces, nephews, and cousins enriched her life and completed her loving family.
