Evelyn Denton ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Tetrick Rhododendron Chapel - Roan Mountain on Mar. 10, 2026.Joyce Denton, age 69, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 8th, surrounded by her loving family. Joyce was born on August 20, 1956, to Rex and Bernice Isaacs in Banner Elk, NC.She was raised on Buck Mountain, where she attended a 2-room school through 6th grade, then went on to Cloudland High School, where she graduated in 1974. On May 31, 1975, she married Terry Denton at High Point Baptist Church in Roan Mountain, TN. After she finished vocational school in 1975, they moved to Altus, OK, where Joyce supported her husband for four years while he served in the United States Air Force. They moved back to Roan Mountain in 1979, where Joyce worked several years as a dental assistant in Elizabethton. She was heavily involved in the church for years as an organ and piano player, led music for the church's youth group, and VBS. Once all her children moved out, she transitioned into one of her loves, which was art. Joyce's talents were diverse to include wood burning, leather work, and even repurposed old bottle and items discarded from the creek into art. Throughout her life her number one priorities were her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and her family.Joyce is survived by her husband, Terry; her sons, Isaac and Caleb; her daughter, Tryphena; her brother Donnie Isaacs; her sister Pam Whisenhunt; and 9 grandchildren.Family, friends, and others whose lives Joyce touched are invited to Johnson Roan View Cemetery in Roan Mountain, TN, at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, to reminisce, grieve, and support each other.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
