Evelyn Brown
February 18, 1934— March 6, 2026
Des Moines, IA
Evelyn (Willie) Brown was born on February 18, 1934, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Roy and Muriel Rhodes. She lived a long and meaningful life marked by deep faith, kindness, and a sincere love for her family and friends.
Willie was the devoted wife of her late husband, Bill H. Brown. She was preceded in death by her brother, Howard Rhodes, and her sister, Marilyn Soliday.
On April 21, 1954, Willie symbolized her dedication to Jehovah through baptism. Her faith remained a guiding light throughout her life. As one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, she found comfort and hope in Jehovah’s promises and loved sharing that hope with others. She was known for her gentle spirit, warm heart, and the encouragement she offered to those around her.
Willie found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved painting, fishing, and searching for hidden treasures at garage sales and flea markets, especially when she could share those adventures with her family. Family was the center of her life. She was a loving and devoted mother to Mickie Simpson, Myndie Neece, Matthew Brown, Justin Bliss, and Callie Gee. She was blessed with 18 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart.
Those who knew Willie will remember her as a caring woman who never met a stranger. Her energy, creativity, generosity, kindness, and love for her family made a lasting impression on everyone she met. While her presence will be deeply missed, her family finds peace in knowing she is resting in Jehovah’s memory until the promised hope of being reunited again.
