Evelyn Albers, age 94, of Marshall and formerly of Redwood Falls, Minnesota, died on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at the Prairie Home Hospice – McLaughlin House in Marshall.
Born Evelyn Mayme Lang on December 6, 1931, in Waterbury Township near Wabasso, she was the daughter of George and Mae (Nolting) Lang. She grew up on her family’s century farm, was baptized and confirmed at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, and attended country school and Wabasso High School. On August 18, 1948, she married Vernon Albers at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Waterbury Township. Together they shared 73 and a half years of marriage, raised three children, and farmed in Paxton Township from 1951 until 1979 before moving to Redwood Falls. They continued farming until retiring in 1988 and moved to Marshall in April 2015.
Evelyn worked at several retail stores, including Larson’s Home Furnishings in Redwood Falls. She was an active member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she served on the visitation committee. She found joy in decorating, gardening, playing cards, sewing, quilting, hardanger embroidery, diamond art, and shopping. A loyal sports fan, she enjoyed watching the Olympics as well as Minnesota’s Twins, Timberwolves, and Vikings. She cherished the close friendships she formed in her later years at Heritage Pointe Senior Living in Marshall.
She is survived by her children, John (Patricia) Albers of Redwood Falls, Wayne (Marlene) Albers of Saint Peter, and Sharon (Lee) DeBlieck of Marshall; seven grandchildren, Kelly (Jeff) Myhre, Heather (Travis) Fischer, Alicia (Christopher) George, Cole (Beatrice) DeBlieck, Katherine Ley, Kindra Albers (Nick Anderson), and Eric (Erin) DeBlieck; ten great-grandchildren, Sean DeBlieck, Adyson Fischer, Conner George, Callen Fischer, Joseph Myhre, Preston DeBlieck, Charlotte Ley, Claire George, Lorelei Ley, and Harper DeBlieck; her brother, Donald (Carole Ann) Lang of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Mae Lang; her husband, Vernon Albers; and her brother, Richard “Dickie” Lang.
