Evelio Joseph Cardona

Evelio Joseph Cardona, lovingly known as Joey Cardona, passed away suddenly on March 12, 2026. Born on January 29, 1986, in Houston, Texas, Joey made his home in Richwood, Texas, with his wife Cait and their daughters Isabelle and Ellina Jo. His sudden departure has left a deep void in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

A proud oil rig operator, Joey found deep purpose in his work. He saw the rig as his mission field and approached each day with bold faith, believing God had placed him there to disciple and encourage the men around him. His guiding mindset was that as long as he remained on the rig, God still had a purpose for him there.

At home, Joey cherished the simple, everyday moments most. He loved early mornings spent outside with Cait, sipping coffee and reading the Bible together. He delighted in cooking breakfast with his daughters and teaching them about the Lord. Whether working in the backyard, visiting the flower store, exploring homesteading, kayaking with his wife, taking beach trips, hosting family movie nights on the back porch, or scouting new fishing holes, Joey treasured every minute spent with his family, who were the light of his life.

Joey was preceded in death by his grandparents, Margery and Culby Henderson and Evelio Cardona; his uncles, Alan Henderson and Marco Hernandez; and his brother-in-law, Cody Ford. He is survived by his devoted wife, Caitlyn; daughters Isabelle and Ellina Jo; mother, Cynthia Cardona; father, Evelio Cardona; sister, Margi Ford; brother-in-law, Stephen Pitarra; and niece, Audrey Cardona. Though his family grieves his absence, they hold fast to the promise that when Joey closed his eyes on earth, he opened them in the loving arms of Jesus.
