Eva Munding

August 7, 1936 March 7, 2026

Raymond, WI

Eva Munding, born Eva Schubkegel, passed away peacefully at the age of 89 on March 7, 2026 in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Born in Romania in 1936 to Kasper and Eva Schubkegel, she met the love of her life, Joseph Munding, and married him in Wilsthut, Austria on March 5, 1955. The couple immigrated to America in 1956, arriving through Ellis Island.

In Chicago, Eva worked briefly for Florsheim Shoes, where she helped craft golf shoes for President Eisenhower and proudly claimed that her initials were stitched into his pair. She and Joseph began their family there, and after the birth of their two sons, Eva devoted herself to being a stay-at-home mother. The family built their dream home in Fox Lake, Illinois, spending many happy years there with relatives while working on the house on weekends. Later, in 2006, Eva and Joseph moved to Raymond, Wisconsin to live on a hobby farm with their son David and his wife Theresa. They cherished the simple joys of farm life, the animals, and especially the time spent with their grandchildren, creating countless warm memories with family and friends.

Eva lived a remarkable life that spanned nearly nine decades, carrying with her the rich heritage of her Romanian roots. Her family will always treasure the memories they shared with her and the loving legacy she leaves behind.

She is survived by her son David (Theresa) Munding; grandchildren Nicholas (Amanda) Munding, Stephanie (Mitchell) Kusek, and Joseph (Cassandra) Munding; and great-grandchildren Tyler (Hailey), Kayla, Ryan, Michael, Lorelai, and Dominic. She also leaves behind her sister-in-law Jody Schubkegel, niece Kate Schubkegel, nephew Todd (Jeannette) Schubkegel, and aunt Marie (Roger) Farris, as well as many beloved relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Joseph Munding, her son Michael Munding, her brother John Schubkegel, and her parents Kasper and Eva Schubkegel.
