October 3, 1933— March 9, 2026
Westminster, MD
Eulav Pearl Cornwell Mitchell, known fondly as Bea to her family and friends, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2026, at Carroll Hospital in Westminster, Maryland. She was 92. Born on October 3, 1933, in Sneedville, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late James and Alpha (Perry) Wilder. Growing up in a large and loving family, she was predeceased by her siblings Jim, Lester, Dee, Jess, Vault, AJ, Hallie, Nan, Nola, Hattie, and Bessie, yet the bonds of kinship and shared memories remained a source of joy and comfort throughout her life.
After moving from Tennessee to Howard County, Maryland, Eulav served her community for many years as a school bus driver and cafeteria worker. A devout Christian, she was a longtime and committed member of Glenwood Missionary Baptist Church, where her faith guided her through acts of kindness, a nurturing spirit, and an unshakeable belief in the goodness of God.
Eulav was married twice, first to the late Emory G. Cornwell and later to the late Samuel Mitchell. She was a loving mother to her son Thomas Cornwell and his wife Gay, and she mourned the loss of her sons Daniel and Mark Cornwell. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law Carolyn Cornwell. Her legacy lives on through her six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, who will carry forward the lessons of love, resilience, and faith she taught them.
Those who knew her best remember Eulav as loving, spirited, faith-filled, and a true prankster. Her laughter was infectious, her advice was cherished, and her home was always a place of welcome and warmth. She faced life’s joys and sorrows with grace and an open heart, leaving behind a spirit that will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.
