Vanover, 73, in the early morning hours of March 7th, 2026. Born on July 10, 1952, in Baltimore, Maryland, Jeannie spent most of her life in Delaware, where she built a life centered on family, friendship, and community.Jeannie moved to Delaware with her family and attended I.H.M. Middle School for eighth grade. She later attended Concord High School as a member of its first graduating class. She continued her education at the University of Delaware, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree.Jeannie began her professional career in hospitality, working as a manager at the Dutch Pantry. She later held various roles at the DuPont Country Club before transitioning into a career in hospitality and country club software. After retiring, she remained active in her community and became heavily involved with I.H.M., helping with the aftercare program and other parish activities, where she truly valued her time with the children and found great joy in being part of their lives.Known to many as the life of the party, Jeannie had a vibrant and outgoing personality. She loved spending time with family and friends, playing games, working on puzzles, traveling, and scrapbooking the many memories she made along the way. She also loved gardening and flowers and cared for many beloved pets throughout her life, whom she affectionately referred to as her "critters." Jeannie also had a special love for birds, and when asked what her plans were, she would often smile and say she was simply "wingin' it."Jeannie was known for her generosity, her humor, and her remarkable ability to stay connected with people throughout her life. She deeply valued her family and friendships and had a gift for building new relationships wherever life took her.Jeannie was preceded in death by her longtime partner, Earl Shafer, and her parents, Eugene and Estelle Vanover. She is survived by her daughter, Katie Saturno (Pierre Santini); her son, Tommy Saturno (Jennifer Saturno); her grandson, Solomon Kerner; her sister, Marguerite Pennington (Michael); her brothers, Edward (Jeannie) and Donald Vanover (Patricia); and many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.Jeannie's warmth, generosity, and joyful spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 11 from 9-11 am at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 4701 Weldin Rd., Wilmington, DE 19803 with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am. Cremation and burial of cremains will be held privately.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Immaculate Heart of Mary Aftercare or UPENN Cardiac ResearchYellow was Jeannie's favorite color.
