Eugene “Gene” Tortone, 87, passed away in Virginia Beach, Virginia on March 12, 2026. He was preceded in death by two of his children, Christine Felter and Richard Tortone.
Gene served his country for 22 years, retiring from the United States Navy as a Master Chief. A devoted member of the Knights of Columbus for 62 years, he lived a life defined by duty, faith, and quiet strength.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Charlotte, and their children: Tom Tortone (Jennifer), Carol Seacrist (Jay), and Mike Tortone (Holly). He also leaves behind eight grandchildren—Jessica Owens (Aaron), Brittany Lubeskie (Mark), Tyler Hiben (Hailee), Sammi Lord (Marshall), Jackson Tortone, Carson Tortone, Reese Tortone, and Maddux Tortone—and eight great-grandchildren: AJ, Carly, Talon, Tucker, Simon, Luke, Ellie, and Cooper.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in Eugene’s memory. A private family service will be held.
