Eugene J. Cormier, 92, of Rochester, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully after a brief illness, surrounded by his family, on March 9, 2026, at Frisbie Memorial Hospital.
Born on August 1, 1933, in Rochester to Arthur and Regina (Forgue) Cormier, Eugene attended Holy Rosary School and graduated from Holy Rosary High School with the class of 1952. He was drafted into the Army shortly after graduation, serving as a Private First Class and earning honorable discharge as a Korean War veteran. He worked in several positions throughout his career, retiring in 1997 from the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, where he served in the mechanical engineering department.
A man of deep and abiding faith, Eugene was an active and devoted member of his church community. He served as a greeter at Mass, assisted as an altar server for Masses and funerals, collected the weekly offertory, and volunteered to prepare meals for church luncheons. He also contributed his time and leadership to many organizations, serving more than 35 years on the credit committee of Holy Rosary Credit Union and holding the positions of 3rd degree, 4th degree, and Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus. Known for his constant smile and kind heart, Eugene touched the lives of all who knew him and will be deeply missed.
He was predeceased by his son Daniel Cormier, his parents, a brother, and two sisters. Eugene is survived by his loving wife of more than 69 years, Marguerite (Morin) Cormier of Rochester; two sons, Denis Cormier and his wife Norma of Rochester, and Dale Cormier and his wife Deborah of Barrington; his daughter, Donna Cormier and Tony Macaione of Rochester; his daughter-in-law, Sharon Cormier of Las Vegas; grandchildren Danielle Descart, Erica Amazeen, Steve Eastman, Drake Cormier, Damarah Cormier, Tyler Berube, Noah Berube, Caden Berube, Katherine Cormier, and Benjamin Cormier; great-grandchildren Michael Ducharme, Rylee Ducharme, Adriana Ducharme, Ava Ducharme, Hadley Eastman, Mackenzie Eastman, and Delilah Berube; and several nephews.
