Eugene Howard Schnaufer

Eugene H. Schnaufer, age 96, passed away on March 11, 2026. Born on December 6, 1929, he was the son of the late G. Howard and Elsie (née Schlifke) Schnaufer. A proud Navy veteran, he served his country from 1948 to 1952. He shared nearly 75 years of marriage with his beloved wife, June W. Schnaufer, who preceded him in death on December 1, 2025.

Eugene was a devoted family man. He is survived by his loving children, Cheryl (Thomas) Nader, Howard (Kelly) Schnaufer, David (Linda) Schnaufer, Debra (David) Brodka, and Lisa (Gregory) Russell. He was the cherished grandfather of 15 and their spouses, great-grandfather of 36, and great-great-grandfather of 2. He is also survived by his brother, Kenneth (late Maryann) Schnaufer, his late brother Warren (survived by Carol) Schnaufer, as well as nieces, nephews, extended family, and many dear friends.

Throughout his long life, Eugene remained deeply connected to those he loved, leaving behind a legacy of quiet strength, steadfast devotion, and warm friendship that will be remembered by all who knew him. He and June will be laid to rest together at the Western New York VA Cemetery.
