Eugene "Gene" H. Head

June 23, 1929 March 13, 2026

Northtowns, NY

Gene Head, born June 23, 1929, to the late Evelyn Winifred Berry, lived a long and remarkable life marked by hard work, talent, and dedication to family and community.

Throughout his life, Gene wore many hats. He was a licensed real estate broker, builder, bank officer, loan manager, and landlord. In addition to his professional accomplishments, he was highly skilled in many trades, including plumbing, automotive repair, roofing, siding, and electrical work. Gene also had a deep love for music and was a talented musician, playing the cornet, piano, and trumpet. In his younger years, he was also known as an exceptional baseball player.

Gene proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War era. During his early years, he lived in several communities including South Lee, Lee, Stockbridge, Pittsfield, North Adams, and Williamstown in Massachusetts, as well as Springfield and Burlington in Vermont. During this time, he formed many lasting friendships with those who served in the Army and Marines. The loss of many of his friends during the attack on Pearl Harbor was a deeply devastating time for him.

Gene experienced love and companionship through several marriages, including to Marilyn and Edith. These relationships brought him joy and helped shape the loving family life he cherished so deeply.

Family meant everything to Gene. He treasured the time he spent with his children, grandchildren, and beloved dog Olie. He is survived by his children Darrel, Lauren, Dave, Priscilla and Joanne. He was predeceased by his son, Dwayne. Gene was also a proud grandfather to Courtney, Jenna Lynn, Alexander, Evan, Leo, and Meredith.

On February 17, Gene suffered a severe stroke and peacefully passed away on March 13, 2026. He was loved by many and will be deeply missed. His positive outlook on life, engaging conversations, and wonderful sense of humor will remain in the hearts of those who knew him.

Relatives and friends may visit Lombardo Funeral Home (Northtowns Chapel) 885 Niagara Falls Blvd. near Eggert/Sheridan Dr. on Tuesday, March 17 from 4-6pm, where a prayer service and military honors will immediately follow.
